Register for "Thinking and Writing as an Historian: Accelerating Writing in AP History Classrooms"
Line of reasoning sits at the heart of strong historical argumentation, yet many students struggle to move beyond isolated claims or loosely connected evidence. In this webinar, experienced AP History teachers, consultants, and AP Exam Committee members share concrete steps for helping students develop evidence-driven thinking in the histories. Participants will explore how to distinguish claims from arguments, use evidence to explain what happened, why it happened, and how it happened, and apply causation, comparison, and change over time to strengthen reasoning. The session also models how to introduce and build counterclaims so students justify their interpretations clearly and coherently across historical contexts.
